MILWAUKEE--In the most embarrassing story out of this
weekend’s D-III College Championships, a thoroughly confused Carleton CUT
showed up to D-III nationals by mistake.
Carleton College fields two extremely successful men’s
ultimate teams; Carleton Ultimate
Team (CUT) competes in USA Ultimate’s Division I, while Gods of Plastic (GOP) competes in Division III.
Exactly how the error occurred is unclear, as team captains
were too upset to discuss the incident in detail.
“I don’t want to talk about it,” said a visibly frustrated
Simon Montague before rounding up his players for the five-hour drive back to
campus.
GOP players were apparently aware of the snafu well in
advance, but decided not to inform their CUT counterparts.
“Oh heck yeah,” said GOP captain Scott Graber, barely stifling
a laugh. “Of course we knew. We saw this coming like…three weeks ago. We just thought it would be a lot funnier not
to say anything. Totally worth it.”
He has a point.
CUT will have to regroup for D-I Nationals next
weekend.
